Drink driver called at police station

by isleofman.com 10th April 2008
A 54 year-old woman from Ballaugh has been given a four month prison sentence, suspended for two years, after admitting drink driving.

Violet Evelyn Doran, of Mountain View appeared before High Bailiff Michael Moyle for sentence.

The court had heard she went to Ramsey police station during the evening of February 28 to collect a neighbour's keys.

Officers noticed a strong smell of alcohol and asked her if she had driven from Ballaugh.
She said she hadn't, but they saw her getting into a car and arrested her.

She was taken to police headquarters where tests showed a blood alcohol reading of 182 milligrammes, compared with the legal limit of 80.

Doran, who had a similar previous conviction in 2003, was disqualified from driving for five years.

Mr Moyle also imposed a two year supervision order and told her it was there to help her with her problems.
