Fire team make Romania

A team of Island firefighters who've taken a fleet of fire engines to Romania say the mission is proving an outstanding success.

Three tenders no longer needed here have been donated by the Manx government.

After a rapturous welcome when they crossed the border on Friday, the Manx officers are now training the Romanians on how to use the hydraulic platform and two pumping engines.

The equipment is state-of-the-art in Romania - where modern fire fighting kit is in short supply.

Former Deputy Chief Fire Officer Bruce Kirkham (pictured) says they boys there are fast learners:
