Fire appliances in Romania

A team of serving and retired fire-fighters from the Isle of Man has handed over a Simon Snorkel extended platform to their counterparts in Romania.

The team set off from the Island a week ago in three 'retired' fire engines and drove to a rural part of the country where the engines will be used.

Fire fighting methods and equipment are very basic in Romania and often rely on nothing more than buckets of water.

Manx Radio's John Moss is with the team. He says continual training has been taking place since our firefighters arrived and the local people are thrilled that they've been chosen to receive the equipment:
