A Manx fisherman who illegally took scallops from a conservation area off Port Erin, has been fined ?7500, and banned from fishing for a week.
Melvyn Reid pleaded guilty to his second offence of fishing inside the so-called 'boxed' Port Erin Experimental Area last week.
Fisheries Minister Phil Gawne condemned the crime - as undermining both the livelihoods of all Manx scallop fishermen - and his department's efforts to conserve stocks.

Reid's illegal fishing in his boat 'Our Sarah Jane' (pictured) was closely monitored by the authorities determined to ensure a successful prosecution.
High Bailiff Michael Moyle added the seven day ban and ?500 costs to the fine.
After the case Minister Gawne described Mr Reid's behaviour as simply unacceptable - and a betrayal of both his colleagues and the industry he works in.
The closed area has done much to enhance the Manx scallop fishery - promoting a thriving population.
But recovery has taken years - and the department says illegal fishing withing the zone has the potential to destroy several years worth of recovery in a single day.
