It's a tic-bourne infection - and is on the increase as a result of mild winters and hotter summers, which mean the parasites can live and breed for longer.
Lyme disease causes muscle pains, stiffness, flu-like symptoms and chronic fatigue.
Although not yet common, the disease can be easily contracted from a walk in the park - or even your pet.
