A union boss is calling for better pay for private sector care workers who are employed on DHSS contracts.

Transport and General Inudstrial Organiser Mick Hewer says these workers are often paid far less than those employed by the Department of Health, despite doing the same job.

Targetted are private companies and charities who win contracts from the government to look after children and adults with disabilities.

They include St Christopher's Fellowship, Praxis Care, Autism Initiatives and the Isle of Man Children's Centre.
