Agricultural de-coupling approved

Agriculture Minister Phil Gawne says the 'overwhelming majority' of Manx farmers support the Agricultural policy given unanimous Tynwald approval earlier this week.

It was the culmination of two and a half year's work by Mr Gawne's Department and aims to set out the future shape of the agricultural industry on the Island.

Mr Gawne says be believes it will be a profitable direction for farmers and will bring security across the food chain for consumers as well.

One of the key elements of the policy is the practice of de-coupling subsidies and the production of crops.
