Broadcaster David Callister has been elected to the Legislative Council, at the fourth attempt.
In a secret ballot in the House of Keys this morning he polled 13 votes, the minimum number needed to secure the position.
The only other candidate, former MHK and MLC Pam Crow, received eight votes.
When the two challengers went head to head for the first time a fortnight ago they got ten votes each.
Mr Callister will serve on the Legislative Council for five years, until 2013.
