by isleofman.com 23rd April 2008
The Isle of Man's new prison at Jurby will be officially opened this morning.

The ?41.7 million pound facility will provide 138 cells compared with the 92 at Victoria Road.

There will also be an increased focus on rehabilitation with improved health, behavioural and educational resources.

Today's ceremony marks the culmination of a project which began in July 2005 when Tynwald approved the construction of the new prison.

The prison at Jurby will be officially by Home Affairs Minister Martyn Quayle.
