Minister opens new prison

The Isle of Man's new prison in Jurby has been officially opened.

The ceremony was performed this morning by Home Affairs Minister Martyn Quayle in front of an invited audience.

It will be some time before the inmates arrive, but the facility is now ready to receive them.

In his speech Mr Quayle said the opening of the ?41 million facility was the culmination of a project stretching over almost 20 years:
