It’s local authority election day in the Isle of Man.
There are elections in six of the 24 local authority areas, with two each in Douglas and Ramsey.
It’s the second time all local government elections have been held on the same day as part of the Department of Local Government’s bid to boost interest and increase turnouts after years of voter apathy.
James Davis reports (audio file attached):
There will be live coverage of the elections with studio comment and reports from all six contests in a special Manx Radio programme presented by Roger Watterson and Beth Espey, from 8pm.
Meanwhile, voters in South Braddan are being re-assured they can still vote, despite not yet receiving their polling cards.
They are due to arrive in today’s post but those affected are being told they can take part in the election without one.
