Councillors lose seats

Two Douglas councillors lost their seats in today's local authority general election.

Liberal Vannin candidate Inkerman Faragher missed out by 25 votes in Athol Ward and Dot Pitts by 40 votes in St George's.

They have been be replaced by Stanley Cain, who topped the poll, and Liberal Vannin candidate Sara Hackman respectively.

Thomas Gelling and Doreen Kinrade retained their seats in Athol Ward by comfortable margins

Dot's husband Stephen Pitts and Glenda Corkish held on to their places in St George's, but in a much closer-fought contest.

Turnouts were 40.49 per cent in Athol and 29.37% in St George's.

Results for Athol Ward: Stanley Cain (521 votes), Doreen Kinrade (459), Thomas Gelling (288), Inkerman Faragher (263).

St George's Ward: Glenda Corkish (352), Sara Hackman (296), Stephen Pitts (292), Dot Pitts (252).
