A 25 year-old Douglas man charged with manslaughter has changed his plea at an appearance at a Court of General Gaol.
Mark Anthony Quirk originally pleaded not guilty to unlawfully killing Joseph McCabe last August.
He's been remanded in custody for mention on May 16 and is likely to be sentenced on June 17.
Forty-three year-old Peel man Marcus Anthony McCormack has pleaded not guilty to the same offence.
Meanwhile, a Douglas woman involved in the incident has been jailed for six months.
James Davis reports (audio file attached):
Forty two year old Sandra Rose Quirk pleaded guilty to obstructing a police officer after trying to persuade Mark Quirk to withhold information.
The defendant told her son to say they'd left Mr McCabe in Douglas Street, Peel, and that they saw him later, lying at the front doorstep of her then-home in Peel.
Her advocate said Quirk was deeply ashamed and truly sorry for lying, adding that she was very confused at the time.
Deemster Doyle said the matter was serious and people who obstructed police could expect immediate prison sentences.
