by isleofman.com 28th April 2008
Marie Jackson (pictured) strode her way to gold in the women's event at the UK National 50km Racewalking Championships in Stockton-on-Tees yesterday.

And there was an impressive performance from her Manx Harriers team mate Michael George in the mens' race as well, he claimed the silver.

Manx athletes were also in action at the Blackpool Half Marathon, which was run along a section of the town's promenade.

Gail Griffiths was the eighth lady home with a new personal best of 92.11, beating her previous one by 59 seconds.

And Sarah Nelson finished two places behind Gail in a time of 95.14, also slashing a minute or so off her PB in the process.

They were 87th and 119th respectively overall.
