Border meeting a success - MP

by isleofman.com 28th April 2008
Campaigners have been stepping up their pressure on broadcasting watchdog Ofcom about the future of the ITV Border region.

A delegation of the TV station’s staff joined United Kingdom politicians for crucial talks with the regulator in London last week.

They handed over 7,000 signed petition postcards against the proposals to merge Border with Tyne Tees, a move many say would seriously affect the Isle of Man’s TV news coverage.

Speaking afterwards, Penrith MP David Maclean described the meeting as a success and praised Border staff for an excellent presentation.

Ofcom is due to make a decision in January.
