New member to take seat in Council

by isleofman.com 29th April 2008
The House of Keys and Legislative Council sit today for the last time this month.

LegCo's new member David Callister will take his seat, after observing legislative proceedings from the sidelines for more than a quarter of a century, as a political correspondent for Manx Radio.

There are eleven questions for oral answer in the Keys, and two for a written response.

With a look ahead to Keys Question Time, here's Marian Kenny (text, below, from attached audio file):

Rushen MHK Juan Watterson will ask the Treasury Minister whether there are plans to conduct a cost of living comparison between the Isle of Man and the UK, and will quiz the Transport Minister on road works outside the Hop Garden in Santon, which has been excavated twice in nine months.

Onchan member Peter karran has further issues for Mr Anderson relating to the construction company Balfour Beatty, being named in an Office of Fair trading investigation.
A contract has been signed with the building firm for the airport runway extension.

Meanwhile, Peel MHK Tim Crookall will ask the Tourism Minister if he's aware of public disquiet over the way his department is handling TT 2008.
