Exciting challenge for anglers

by isleofman.com 29th April 2008
Reservoir anglers in the Isle of Man are being given the chance to break the all-time record for a rainbow trout caught in Manx waters.

A monster specimen has been released from the government's fish hatchery at Cornaa, as part of an ongoing policy of stocking the inland waterways with quality fish.

The record currently stands at just under 19 lbs, and Fish Hatchery Manager John Ballard says releasing a trout which could push it over the 20 lbs mark fulfills a long held ambition (audio file attached):

You can hear the full version of that interview on today's Countryside programme, with Simon Clarke and John Kennaugh, on AM and FM, from just after 6pm.
