Hislop crash inquiry continues

by isleofman.com 30th April 2008
The inquiry into the death of eleven-times TT winner Steve Hislop will continue at Edinburgh Sheriff's Court today.

The Onchan resident, also a twice British Superbike Champion, died in July 2003 in a helicopter crash near Hawick, in the Scottish Borders.

Yesterday, the inquiry heard claims that low flying was taking place in the Borders on the day of the crash.

Paul Hannon, a senior air accident investigation spokesman, confirmed the presence of two low flying harrier jets in the area.

But he said they crested the ridge at the southern edge of the valley, 30 minutes after Steve Hislop's helicopter rose rapidly into clouds and then crashed.

The inquiry is due to continue until Friday.
