A gymnastics coach convicted of four counts of indecent assault will be sentenced later today.

Sixty-two year-old Harold Volante of Cooil Close, Douglas was found guilty following a four week trial.

He was cleared of a further four charges of indecent assault on young girls.

Volante was found guilty of carrying out offences against young girls, aged ten to 15.

Throughout his trial, he denied any improper behaviour, but the prosecution said he was a manipulative man who posed a menace to the girls in his care, and couldn't keep his hands to himself.

It took a jury two days to reach its verdicts.

Volante was initially granted bail ahead of sentencing, but decided to revoke that right and has been in custody for the past six weeks.

He will be sentenced later this morning at Douglas courthouse (pictured).
