Shark Watch looks for volunteers

Looking for whales and basking sharks off the Manx coast has become a popular pastime, with interest in the gentle giants growing every year.

And now there is a plea for more volunteers to help man the dedicated website and phoneline, taking details of sightings.

The Manx Basking Shark Watch started off small, but now deals with hundreds of calls a year.

And with every observation having to be checked, the task has become too much for one person.

Jackie Hall is appealing for help checking what is seen, its size, and where and when the sightings take place:
