Search for bone marrow donors

by isleofman.com 1st May 2008
Isle of Man residents are being urged to consider becoming a bone marrow donor.

A recruitment session was held today and there will be another tomorrow, to find people willing to help save lives.

They are being run by the Anthony Nolan Trust, which says the more people there are on the register the better the chances of finding a match for the 7,000 patients in Britain who need a transplant.

All that's needed at this stage is a small blood sample.

Robert Jones is a donor from the Island who has got used to the procedures involved (audio file attached):

Today's session was at the offices of Fairbairn Private Bank in Hill Street, Douglas.

Tomorrow's will be at Friends Provident International in Castletown, between 12 and 4pm.
