The new ?26.5 million Douglas Water Treatment Works has been officially opened by the Lieutenant Governor, Vice Admiral Sir Paul Haddacks.
The new facility will serve around 70 per cent of the Island’s population, treating up to 37 million litres of water a day.
It replaces the Glencrutchery works, which has served the Island for more than 70 years.
