EuroManx advice from OFT

by isleofman.com 10th May 2008
The Office of Fair Trading has issued advice to passengers rights on their rights to a refund, following the collapse of EuroManx.

It's aimed at those who are UNABLE to take up offers of replacement flights from other carriers.

Howard Caine reports:

The OFT says where passengers booked flights directly with the airline, protection is limited.

However if they booked by credit card they may be protected by the UK Consumer Credit Act. Those passengers should check with their card issuer.

Another scenario for those who booked through a travel agent or tour operator - they may have airline failure insurance from which passengers can make a claim.

And personal travel insurance policies covering journeys between the Island and the UK may provide some protection - but most will just cover the cost of original tickets and not the cost of buying additional flights.

All passengers affected are strongly advised to keep all relevant paperwork.

And for those who take advantage of the rescue arrangments being put in place - you should not also try to reclaim money from credit card providers.
