Minister says 'let children walk'

by isleofman.com 12th May 2008
Children who can walk to school should do so more often.

That's the message from the Education Minister Anne Craine.

She is urging parents to leave their cars at home, to ease pressure on congested roads at rush hour and for the sake of their children's health.

Traffic is much heavier during term time, and when it's wet, creating potentially dangerous congestion outside schools.

Mrs Craine (pictured) says our devotion to the car needs to be challenged (audio file attached):

Anne Craine was speaking to Dan Davies on Talking Heads.
