Police condemn 'cowardly' burglar

A 'distraction burglar' who conned his way into an elderly woman's home and stole ?300 has been condemned as cowardly by police.

The man called at the woman's house in Willaston on Friday afternoon, saying he had come to mend a leak.

Once inside, he took the cash from the living room.

The man is described as around 40 years old, 5' 5" tall, with short brown hair. He wore a T-shirt and trousers.

Police say the woman has been left shocked and upset, and they are appealing for residents on the Willaston estate to come forward with any information.
