Elections in Peel and Port Erin

Port Erin and Peel go to the polls today (Thursday) to elect a new commissioner.

In Port Erin, chartered accountant Justin Unsworth and housewife Michelle Wirtz are bidding for the vacant seat on the board.

The polling station, at the commissioners' offices in Bridson Street, is open from eight o’clock this morning until 8pm.

In Peel, the two candidates are business analyst Raymond Harmer and retired police officer Alan Jones and the polling station is the Corrin Hall.

Election officials are pointing out the names of Ian Davison in Peel and Edward McBride in Port Erin will appear on the respective ballot papers.

However, both candidates withdrew from the elections earlier this week.
