Cockfield Trust benefits Manx charities

A number of Island charities have received donations thanks to the generosity of the late Lord Cockfield.

The former Isle of Man resident, who died in January last year at the age of 90, was Minister of State at the Treasury in Margaret Thatcher’s government, Secretary of State for Trade and Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster.

Eddie Lowey MLC was a friend for many years of both Lord Cockfield and his wife Monica and, on behalf of the Cockfield Trust, made the presentations to local charities, including The Manx Music Festival, Project 21 and St Bridget’s Hospice.

Mr Lowey (pictured) believes they would have approved of the charities and said they considered the Isle of Man home:
