There has been a substantial increase in the Isle of Man's annual rate of inflation.
It went up to 4.9 per cent in April, from 4.3 per cent in March.
The biggest increase was in the fuel and light category, which rose 15.5 per cent over 12 months, adding over one per cent to the overall inflation figure.
Treasury Minister Allan Bell (pictured) says the latest inflation figure is disappointing but came as no surprise (audio file attached):
This year the Treasury is publishing a monthly Consumer Price Index figure for the first time.
It stood at 100 in January and had risen to 102.2 by April. However, with only three months of data available, it isn't yet possible to give an annual rate.
