Collision at Port Soderick station

The steam train which hit a van on the railway line at Port Soderick today should be back in service by tomorrow.

The first southbound service of the day ploughed into the vehicle as it rounded a bend into the station at 11am.

An operation began to move the badly damaged van, while the locomotive - number 4 engine Loch - was towed back into Douglas.

The van driver escaped shocked but unhurt.
