DTI Minister defends film industry

by isleofman.com 20th May 2008
Trade and Industry Minister David Cretney has rejected a suggestion that the Island's film industry is failing.

Replying to a question from North Douglas MHK Bill Henderson, Mr Cretney (pictured) said the industry had "securely re-established itself" following an eight month downturn both here and in the United Kingdom.

He stated that the downturn was a result of changes in the tax relief system introduced by the UK government in December 2006.

M r Cretney is confident the Manx movie industry had now turned the corner.
