Hilton development to start in 2009

by isleofman.com 29th May 2008
It looks as if work could be getting under way before too long on the developments around the former bus station site in Lord Street, Douglas.

The Sefton Hotel Group says it expects to start next year on a 150 room 'four star plus' hotel, which will take the name Palace Hilton Hotel and Casino.

The development, on 1.65 acres alongside the Lord Street police station and running along Walpole Avenue, will have ten hotel suites, ten serviced apartments, restaurants, bars, function rooms, a health spa, a four screen multiplex cinema, a casino, kursaal bar and parking.

The government is still negotiating with Askett Hawke over the bus station site iteself, after Tynwald agreed in principle to grant a 999 year lease.
