Flat fire in Castletown

by isleofman.com 28th May 2008
Police and fire officers are investigating the cause of a fire in Castletown last night.

Two appliances attended a blaze on the ground floor porch entrance to flats above the Castle Pharmacy in Bank Street.

The alarm was raised at around 11.30pm and firefighters used breathing apparatus to lead one man to safety from a first floor flat.

Damage was confined to the porch and utility room of the building, but there was smoke logging of the shop and flats.

There were no injuries.

Fire officers spent around two hours at the scene ventilating the area and ensuring the blaze hadn't spread.
