Replies to MLC's written questions on TT

A member of the Legislative Council has been given more information about the TT prohibited and restricted areas.

Juan Turner, MLC (pictured), wanted a copy of the detailed risk assessment for each area, and questioned who made the decisions about their status.

In a written answer, the Department of Tourism says restricted areas around the TT course are identified by the Clerk of the Course during a recorded visual inspection, and are based on rider, marshal and spectator safety judgements.

These are then ratified by the overall governing body, the Auto Cycle Union.

Further details are published on the website iomtt.com.

Mr Turner also wanted to know who recommended fencing to be put up at Quarterbridge, and was told advice on safety came from the Clerk of the Course.

With regard to Quarterbridge the judgement was based on previous rider feedback.
