Help for firework organisers

by isleofman.com 2nd June 2008
There are proposals to make life easier for organisations that hold fireworks displays in the Isle of Man.

The Department of Home Affairs is inviting applications from charities, clubs and committees who'd like to be included on a prescribed list exempting them from having to give formal notification of holding an event.

The aim is to save reponsible organisations the costs associated with advertising their events an, subject to Tynwald approval, the order will come into force on Friday, July 18th.

Those looking to go on the exempt list need to submit their applications to Home Affairs by a week on Friday, June 13th, although ones received after that could be included in a future order later in the year.

Fireworks displays are subject to strict controls here and certain criteria must still be met by applicants.

And details still have to be sent to the DHA, which in turn informs the emergency services and coastguard.
