Centenary of poet's death

by isleofman.com 2nd June 2008
A well known Manx language poet and writer died 100 years ago this week.

Edward Faragher, or Ned Beg, was a fisherman by trade, and lived for most of his life in Cregneash.

Manx National Heritage, which opened his former cottage to the public in 2005, says he was considered a guardian and collector of Manx culture, at a time when everything around him was in a state of flux.

Rushen MHK Phil Gawne, himself a great supporter of all things Manx, says he was a remarkable man (audio file attached):

The centenary of the death of Ned Beg falls on June 5.
