Further wait for skate park decision

It will be another six months before it’s known whether a skateboard park will be built in Onchan.

Commissioners last night considered a 600 name petition, collected by local youngsters and calling for the facility to be created on playing fields behind Onchan Youth and Community Centre.

The board will now put the matter out to consultation, holding a public meeting later this month to form a working group. This will talk to interested parties and come forward with a recommendation.

Commissioners’ Chairman Derek Crellin (pictured) hopes it will lead to good dialogue:
