Bikers in hospital after Alpine collision

Two visiting motorcyclists are in a serious condition in hospital this evening, after colliding with a parked police vehicle.

The accident happened at about 12.15pm at Alpine Corner, just south of Ballaugh.

The Suzuki and Kawasaki machines were travelling in the Ramsey direction and both were badly damaged. The marked Ford Galaxy received slight damage.

The male riders, aged 21 and 23, are both from Lincolnshire and were taken to Noble's hospital with injuries described by police as 'serious'.

The stretch of the TT course between Douglas Road Corner, Kirk Michael and Ballaugh Bridge has been closed since the incident happened, while invstigations continue.

It was expected to reopen at 9pm today.

Anyone who saw what happened is asked to contact police on 631212.

Earlier reports had suggested more vehicles were involved.
