Coroner of Inquests Michael Moyle has adjourned a hearing into the death of a teenage biker last year.
Eighteen year-old Darren Self died in a crash at Ballahutchin on the main raod from Douglas to Peel on December 19.
This morning, the court was told Robert Brisco Macgregor Quayle of Mullen Beg, Patrick, will face charges in connection with the incident.
His advocate said he was anxious not to answer any questions which might prejudice his trial for driving without due care and attention.
Michael Moyle, sitting as coroner, said he was reluctant to adjourn the case as he had already refused an application by the family for an adjournment.
When criminal proceedings were active, he said, it was usual for inquests to go ahead before a summary court heard the case.
He pointed out Mr Quayle could refuse to answer any questions he thought might incriminate himself and no inferences could be drawn from that during an inquest.
But he agreed to adjourn the hearing until a date to be fixed in July.
