Plans to close the Isle of Man College nursery should be debated publicly before a final decision is made, a union chief has said.
The Department of Education last week announced the nursery will close in August with four full-time and two part-time members of staff affected.
It’s hoped the nursery nurses will be offered alternative employment within the College.
The College’s governing body and the Department of Education say nursery provision can be obtained more cost-effectively by subsidising child care for students with young children from private sector providers.
