Everest hero back home

by isleofman.com 6th June 2008
Police officer and part-time mountaineer Phil Drowley is back on the Isle of Man and taking it easy, after becoming the first Manxman to climb Mount Everest.

He first got the climbing bug in 2000 after scaling Mount Kilimanjaro for charity, and previously had a crack at Everest two years ago, when he got close to the summit but had to turn back because of health concerns.

Having fulfilled such a huge ambition he now has to decide whether it's time to retire, but that's not an easy decision to make, particularly when there are further goals to achieve (audio file attached):

You can hear more of that interview on Mandate, on Monday morning.
