Six people rescued from Tower of Refuge

by isleofman.com 7th June 2008
The coastguard has issued another warning about the dangers of being cut off by the Island’s tides.

On Friday night, six people had to be rescued in Douglas after finding themselves stranded on Conister Rock.

Four people were taken from the Tower of Refuge by a coastguard rescue vehicle, while another two were escorted by personnel through waist-high water.

A spokesman for the coastguard says people should keep an eye on incoming water to allow themselves time to get clear of any risky area.

In the event of emergency, people should call 999 and ask for the coastguard.
