Man who jumped bail named by Sun

A man who failed to appear in court in Douglas two years ago has been named by the Sun newspaper as one of Britain’s most wanted criminals.

The paper has accused Michael Derek Sansbury of being a 'sex beast', despite the fact he has never been convicted of an offence.

He was due to appear in court in 2006 charged with rape and indecent assault on a child, but didn't turn up.

Detective Sergeant Catherine Bradley from the Family Protection Unit says it would be useful if Mr Sansbury came back to the Island, after the national media raised his profile.

But there is always a risk such publicity could have unwanted consequences and pose a risk to his safety:
