MHK slams DHSS care plan

Plans to halt new admissions to three of the Island's care homes for the elderly are a crude attempt to save money - says North Douglas MHK Bill Henderson.

The DHSS announced the plan last week, saying resources would be better used to support elderly people in their own homes, for longer.

From last Sunday, Glenside and Reayrt ny Baie homes in Douglas and Cummal Mooar in Ramsey, closed their doors to new residents.

Mr Henderson (pictured) has vowed to oppose the move in Tynwald and the House of Keys.

He says it's a desparate measure by the Health Minister to trim his budget:
