Hopes for working pensioners

Pensioners in the Isle of Man should be welcomed back into the workforce.

Derek Hartop, who runs the Justice for Pensioners website, believes people of retirement age have a great deal to contribute.

Statistics show more older people are having to return to work in order to supplement their incomes, as prices for basic commodities continue to spiral.

Mr Hartop says there are many benefits in keeping active, although he has some concerns about the financial obstacles put in the way of pensioners working.

Meanwhile, Chief Executive of Age Concern in the Isle of Man Penny Creighton (pictured) fully supports the idea of encouraging older people back into employment.

She hopes to see more positive attitudes towards pensioners working in the Isle of Man:
