The Isle of Man's public water supply will not be fluoridated.
The DHSS has confirmed that, following public consultation, it does not intend to continue with a policy of fluoridation.
Market researchers carried out a survey of 1,000 Island residents, 54 per cent of whom were opposed to the move.
Health Minister Eddie Teare says it shows the public that their views have been listened to, and efforts in the coming years will focus on improving dental health through promotion activity.
