Minister issues minimum wage warning

Wage rises which reflected the proposed 7.1 per cent increase in the minimum wage would be disastrous.

That's the warning from the Treasury Minister, after a DTI recommendation that the figure should be raised to ?6 an hour. Tynwald will decide on whether it will go through at next week's sitting.

At the Chamber of Commerce Annual General Meeting and Lunch Allan Bell (pictured) said the government could not afford to follow suit:
