Handbag thefts

by isleofman.com 13th June 2008
Police are investigating a series of handbag thefts in the Douglas area.

They all occurred within a few hours of each other yesterday afternoon (Thurs).

Three incidents were reported to the police between 12pm and 2 pm, two from the centre of town and one from a local supermarket.

Two women had their bags stolen from either a trolley or pram whilst out shopping.

Police say the crimes are clearly opportunistic and may be linked.

Anyone who has any information about the thefts or is concerned about crime prevention should contact PC Leather at Lower Douglas Police station.

Police are reminding members of the public to be vigilant at all times, especially in busy streets or shops, and to never leave personal belongings unattended.
