The new Governor of the Island's prison will officially start her new job Monday.
Alison Gomme is starting at a challenging time, as one of her first tasks will be to oversee the transfer of inmates from Victoria Road in Douglas to the new ?41.7 million pound facility in Jurby.
She was most recently in charge of two prisons near Birmingham, namely Hewell Grange and Brockhill.
Mrs Gomme says she is keen to work in partnership with others to make communities safer, and she believes there is great scope to do that in the Isle of Man.
Home Affairs Minister Martyn Quayle says it's a challenging time in the history of the Island's penal service, and it is fortunate to have someone of Mrs Gomme's calibre in such an important position.
