Mananan Festival starts tonight

Music and arts lovers in the Island are in for a treat.

The 34th Mananan International Festival begins at the Erin Arts Centre this evening (Sunday).

Twenty different events are being staged over the coming fortnight - they include celebrity recitals by violinist Tasmin Little and Soprano Amanda Roocroft.

Six of the concerts are being recorded by BBC Radio 3 for broadcast in their Lunchtime Concerts during August.

Founder and Director of the Erin Arts Centre John Bethell (pictured) told Geraldine Jameson the festival has, at last, gained the recognition it deserves (audio file attached):
