The Isle of Man's bee population could soon be given special status.
Bees have been in real crisis in some parts of the world, with problems such as Colony Collapse Disorder causing a drastic drop in numbers.
However, local keeper Harry Owen says importation restrictions put into effect over 20 years ago have kept the Island's bees in good health, and it's hoped the unique status of its population can be officially recognised (audio file attached):
